Leadership Designed for the Multigenerational Workplace

Whether you are Gen Z or a Baby Boomer, the world is changing at an incredible rate and our goal needs to be finding the common ground we all share to lead together.

In Millennial Leadership: Equipping Generations to Influence a New Millennium, I unpack how the entrance of the Millennial Generation into the workforce is creating a more collaborative, servant oriented, and people focused leadership approach.

For this reason, leaders in all areas of life are faced with the choice of shifting their leadership styles in order to impact the world in a positive way, or fade off into obscurity as their leadership approach becomes obsolete.

The Story

From the corn fields of Iowa to serving leaders to become great

Getting Started

My first step into a professional role was as a youth pastor in a church plant in Indiana.

I imagined this was my opportunity to become this great leader who would change lives for the better.

Unfortunately, even with a Bachelor's Degree in youth ministry, I was a pretty bad youth pastor. After only a year and a half, I successfully grew the youth group from 22 to 13 and was asked to go succeed elsewhere.

Time to Regroup

Having failed in my first attempt to be a leader, I found myself pretty low and uncertain what to do.

I packed all my belongings into my little Honda Accord and went to stay with some gracious friends to regroup and figure out what was next.

Where did I go wrong? I knew I was supposed to help people, develop people, and invest my life into the success of others.

After prayer and some good conversations with those close to me, I realized my success in the past had not been working with teenagers in general, but student leaders. I was gifted in leading leaders. I needed to turn my attention to increasing my leadership skills to train, develop, and equip other leaders.

So, I went back to school and received a Masters in Organizational Leadership.

Back on Track

Upon completion of my Masters degree, I was given the incredible opportunity to be part of a powerful team of leaders and spearhead the cultural transformation of a leadership training school.

Over the course of six years, I successfully redesigned the culture of the school training over 300 students by creating curriculum, building a strong community for relationships, and developing systems that supported the efforts of the directors and educators of the program.

Student Becomes the Professor

During this time, I stepped into my first opportunity as a university professor. I had the opportunity to develop leadership curriculum that provided practical skill development, team dynamics, and culture design.

It was a rewarding to see undergraduate students discover their leadership paths, uncover their unique skills, and go beyond the textbook into practical application of leadership.

It was invigorating to be part of a university setting around high level academics that challenged my thinking as well as high energy students that challenged zest for life.

New Challenges

As my wife's career as a Physician Assistant was getting off the ground, we decided to move to a new location with new challenges.

Wanting to increase my ability to help leaders, I decided to return to school for another degree.

As my studies began, I assumed the role as Executive Pastor of the church we were attending.

My focus was creating efficiency in the office for the administrative staff, developing discipleship and leadership curriculum, and building a highly effective team.

I wanted to create an atmosphere for the leaders to discover their dream lives while leading effectively. In the four years I served the great people at that church, I was able to build a budget surplus, train and develop a strong volunteer team, and provide a discipleship experience that people loved to go through.

Along the way, I also received my Doctorate in Strategic Leadership with a focus on Foresight and Future Studies.

I was ready to step out and focus my attention on training and developing leaders to be more effective, increase success and discover their own dream lives.

Bringing Life to Leadership

All my experiences and opportunities have led me to this moment in my life where I serve leaders and bring their dreams into reality.

Everyday I meet incredible leaders who are gifted and skilled, but are running into a problem, roadblock, or blindspot they can't overcome.

I am privileged to help them work through what stands between them and the success they are looking for.

On the other side of those breakthroughs most leaders find a lifestyle they only dreamed of. A lifestyle of success, margin, and fulfillment. For them, the experience is priceless.

For me, the experience reminds me what I have been made to do.
